Bath Scouts Accompany The Bear
Bath Scouts were recently involved in entertaining the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls and comedian David Walliams as they embarked on a whistle stop tour of Scout Jamborees as part of Bear’s attempt to meet as many Scouts as possible.
Their first visit of the day was to the Cornish Jamboree where they met 1500 young people and had a go on a zipwire and tried their hand at circus skills. One of their hosts was Leader Simon Crowden, from Bathampton Scouts, who accompanied the celebrities around the camp in a golf buggy.
From Cornwall it was a helicopter ride to Sussex where members of the Bath Scout Gang Show were responsible for the running of the main stage, including the lighting, sound, talent and gang shows, live bands and discos, as well as the running of the drama and dance workshops.
Adrian Cottle, Bath Gang Show Director, said, “The Sussex Jamboree was a fantastic event. There were many highlights of the week, but meeting Bear Grylls and David Walliams and showing them what we do with the young people stands out.”
The Sussex Jamboree had over 2500 people attending. Both camps had Scouts from all across the world enjoying everything from archery to sailing, with everyone sleeping in tents for a week.
Jamborees are one of the many events on offer to both young people and adults each year. Anyone wanting to join the Scouting adventure should click here for more information.
