Weather No Joke For Circus Scouts

20 September 2013

Network Scouts from the Bath Unit joined 300 others last weekend for the annual Intense camp for Network Scouts at Woodhouse Park just outside Bristol.

The 18-25 years olds took part in a weekend of activites including shooting, climbing, archery, tomahawk throwing, sedgways and a muddy assault course. Despite the mixed weather it did not dampen sprits and a fun time was enjoyed by all.

Now in its 10th year the event, formerly run by Avon Scouts but now for the first year by the Scout Association also saw the first time the centre’s new high ropes course was used.  This was very well received, with the leap of faith trapeze bar being the perfect activity to tie in with this years circus theme.

Every Intense camp sees their signature activity-  the annual ‘Piano Bash’. In which a whole piano is taken apart and then posted through a ‘letter box’ size opening. This was a great success with a winning time, by South Wansdyke Network from the BANES Hub with a time of just under 2hrs 15mins
