Network Spend Day With A Deer

23 October 2013

The senior section of Scouting – Network which is for 18-25s spent the day learning how to skin and prepare a deer. The Scouts from the BANES Hub which included members from Bath City, GPS and South Wansdyke Networks were shown what to do by the team at just outside Bath.

After Scouts had skinned their deer they were shown and practiced how to fillet and detach the various joints of meat. The Scouts also learnt how to make a Maroi Pit to cook a leg of venison. This was achieved by building a pit, filling it with stones and then building a large fire on the top and the venison was then placed on of the stones and pit filled in with earth.

Two hours later the meat was cooked and enjoyed by all the Scouts.
