7 February 2014

page-wsj2015Congratulations to Melissa and Katie (from Bathampton Scout Troop) and Ashley (from Inferno ESU) who have been chosen to represent Bath District Scouts as part of the Avon unit at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015.

To be selected the scouts, who will be between 14 and 18 when the visit the event in the Kirarahama area of Japan takes place, had to fight off opposition from others all around Bath and did so through a written application, attending a selection day and through an interview with some of the leaders that will be going with them.

The World Scout Jamboree will be a once in a life time opportunity, with 30, 000 scouts from all around the world and more countries represented than at the Olympic games, it is the biggest event in scouting!

Melissa, one of the scouts who has been selected to go said “I can’t wait to meet the rest of my unit and start preparing for such an amazing trip!”.

The World Scout Jamboree takes place every 4 years and there are countless other events and opportunities to get involved in. To find out more and join the scouting adventure, click here.
