Bath Scouts On Air Around the World!

25 October 2014

The weekend of 17th to 19th October saw Scouts from around the world communicating with each other as part of the worldwide Jamboree on the Internet and Jamboree on the Air event.

Bath was no exception, with Scouts from across the 66th and 28th gathering at 229th Bristol’s HQ in Ashton Gate for the County JOTI Radio event. While in Bath Explorers from Blaze and Scouts from the 28th tried out the newly installed wi-fi at their District HQ in Grove Street .

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts enjoyed the opportunity to chat to members across the world using iPads, as well as broadcasting live on the Radio courtesy of Avon Scout Radio. Throughout the weekend there were also a range of activities including pizza-making, international crafts and video games – as well as practicing their electronics skills building torches!

Some groups, including those from 66th Bath, were lucky enough to stay overnight at the 229th HQ and enjoy a whole night of activities with very little sleep!

Next year Bath District plan to hold an even bigger event with radios and the internet being used to speak to even more people from across the world. To get involved with Jota-Joti, as well as the other great activities scouting has to offer, contact us here.
