Bathampton Cubs take part in Farm to Fork Trail with Tesco

24 October 2015

cubsfarm2fork2015bLast week, Cub Scouts from Bathampton took part in the Farm to Fork Trail at the Keynsham branch of Tesco. As part of this, the Cubs saw behind the scenes of a Tesco bakery, learnt which animals different cheeses come from, were taught how to gut a fish and completed fun challenges to find out where different fruit and vegetables are grown. Helping young people maintain a healthy lifestyle has always been key to Scouting’s programme and the Farm to Fork partner badge is a great way for young people to get a great understanding of where their food comes from. They also learn essential life skills in preparing food and have the opportunity to try things for the first time.

Bertie a Cub Scout aged 9 said: “I had an amazing time at Keynsham Tesco, I tried Onion Cheese for the first time and it tasted great. It has really opened my eyes to new food and finding out where things come from has made me think about what I ask my parents for when we are at the supermarket”

This is just one of the many activities the Cub pack in Bathampton gets up to. If you would like to get involved and join us on our next adventure – get in touch!
