Bathampton Scouts set new record at Strategy

29 June 2016

The team of 5 came 1st out of 235 teams, and set a new all time high score for the event, after completing numerous challenges spread across the 3,000 acre site that tested their physical stamina, mental prowess and scouting skills including map reading and compass work. Bases included an assault course, rifle shooting, nail painting, kit checks, metal detecting and fire lighting – at each base the Scouts had to decide who from the Patrol would under take the task to gain the maximum points.

The Scouts camped under canvas and despite the very heavy mud underfoot and the occasional heavy showers, all of the Scouts had a great time. To finish off the camp the Scouts also enjoyed a disco, talent show and various other activities on the Sunday after the competition ended and the medals and trophy was presented, including climbing and craft.
