Scouts from Bath light up Bonfire Night

10 November 2016

8195576051_cf4463cb74_oScouts from across Bath were involved in Firework displays across the city, helping light the skies up over the weekend.

The Batheaston Bonfire and Firework Night, organised by the 23rd Bath (Avonvale) Scout Group based in Batheaston, took place on Saturday, with a record attendance. This has become an annual event supported by the whole community. The large bonfire burned brightly all evening as families enjoyed the mulled wine, hotdogs and hot chocolate. Northern Lights again provided a spectacular firework display for the crowd.

Scout Leaders along with Young People, worked tirelessly to make this another well run evening, and they were helped on the night by members of Blaze Explorers, all aged 14-18, along with their Leaders.

As well as raising funds for the Group to benefit the Young People, the evening provided a great night out for families from the surrounding area, all of whom enjoyed it greatly.

Meanwhile, in the centre of Bath, 24 Adult Volunteers from various Scout Groups, including Bath University Guides and Scouts (BUGS), helped with the ‘bucket collections’ for the Rotary and Bath University Firework display at the Rec. The Scouts raised a record amount for several charities including CLIC and worked alongside the Police Cadets and Samaritans.

Both displays were run by volunteers and form part of the diverse range of activities that adults in Scouting can take part in. To find out more about some of the other events we’re involved in, or to find out how you can get involved, get in touch here.
