Bath Explorers go Adventuring in Wales

6 December 2016

Last weekend, A group of Explorer Scouts, young people aged 14-18, along with several adult volunteers, enjoyed an adventurous weekend in the Brecon Beacons.

A sharp, bright, sunny Saturday offered the chance for some of the group to walk over a historic hill fort and then along the highest ridge in the Black Mountains, sprinkled with snow.  The rest of the group walked through wild woodlands and past the Witches Pool waterfalls.

On Sunday, different options were available again, with some Scouts exploring the nearby “Eglwys Faen” cave, while another party honed their navigation skills on the wild Llangattock plateau.  The caving group even invested one of their new Explorers inside the cavern.

The Explorers were based in a remote bunkhouse with a wood-burning stove, high in the hills above Crickhowell, enjoying home cooked food and games in the evenings.

The Bath Explorer Leader team includes several individuals qualified to take Scouts and adults on many adventurous activities, but need more help. To find out more about how you could gain qualification, get involved, and experience some of our upcoming adventures, get in touch here!
