Bathampton Scouts win again at Stategy

20 July 2017

A Patrol of Scouts from the 28th Bath (Bathampton) Scout Group have just returned triumphantly from Strategy, a challenge camp run by Gloucester Scouts and held on the Earl of Bathurst’s Estate just outside Cirencester.

The Scouts were there with teams from 13th Oldfield Park, 21st Larkhall and 66th Weston Village, and competed against Scouts from all over the country at this prestigious event.
The team of 4 from Bathampton came 1st out of 269 teams, for the second year running, after completing numerous challenges spread across the 3,000 acre site that tested their physical stamina, mental prowess and scouting skills including map reading and compass work.

Bases included an assault course, rifle shooting, nail painting, kit checks, metal detecting and fire lighting – at each base the Scouts had to decide who from the Patrol would under take the task to gain the maximum points.
The Scouts camped under canvas and despite the hot weather and the occasional heavy showers, all of the Scouts had a great time.

To finish off the camp the Scouts also enjoyed a disco, talent show and various other activities on the Sunday after the competition ended and the medals and trophy were presented. For more information on being involved in similar adventures both as a young person or a Leader, get in touch here.
