14 January 2021

Scouts UK have announced the appointment of long-time volunteer Carl Hankinson (30 years and counting!) to the role of Chief Commissioner. As such, Carl will provide continued leadership of volunteers across the country, with a focus on supporting volunteers to deliver an exciting programme for young people and to get the most out of their roles.

Carl said:

‘The pandemic has hit some communities really hard, and so many Scouts volunteers have gone above and beyond to support young people through a very difficult time.

As we rebuild in the coming years, we have a real opportunity to help more young people, from all backgrounds, especially in those communities worst affected by the pandemic.’

In tandem, Jennie Price, most recently Chief Executive of Sport England and Chair of Trustees for Youth United, will be heading the Scouts Board of Trustees, the body which oversees decisions, ,strategy and performance of UK Scouting.
