Strategy Camp Success!

Date: 29th Jun 2023 Author: Amy Howard

Scouts from across Bath have just returned from a successful, fun and testing (!) camp at the Strategy Event, a Challenge Camp run by Gloucester Scouts and held on the Earl of Bathurst’s Estate just outside Cirencester.

Scout Patrols, all aged from 10-14 years old, and their Leaders, from 51st (Oldfield Park), 69th (Weston) and 28th (Bathampton) Scout Troops along with Explorers, aged 14-18 from the Blaze Unit, took part in 30 challenges spread over the 3,000 acre woodland site.

A wide range of Challenges tested Scouting skills and stamina and included 1st Aid, map reading, rifle shooting, caber tossing, a cave bus (simulated caving activity), and a tricky assault course.

For each Challenge, Scouts had to decide who from their Patrol would try and complete the task to gain maximum points.

All the Scouts camped under canvas and despite the long days and hot weather, they still had some energy left for some late nights in the disco! They all had a great time!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
