Annual Endurance Hikers Clock Up The miles!

Date: 3rd Apr 2023 Author: Amy Howard
28th Bathampton and 15th Freshford Scouts held their Annual Joint Endurance hike recently and saw 30 young people rise to the challenge.
The course is a loop set between Iford and Freshford, the aim being to complete the most loops in the time allowed. Checkpoint volunteers included leaders and parents from both groups – it was a sterling effort from everyone!
Bath Network Chair Henry commented: “Scouts were unfazed by the muddy conditions and fading daylight, with five patrols totting up a whopping 87 miles between them over the seven hours; having made great use of radio and navigation techniques throughout. Their rest and slice of cake at the end were very well deserved!”
Our thanks to Iford Manor for the use of their carpark again.
HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
