Yes, it’s back – Bath Scouts’ annual cooking competition, bringing together young people from across the District to for a fun-filled, food-focussed challenge!

Competing Patrols were not told the theme until the beginning of the day when ‘Caribbean’ was plucked from the hat. This demanded creative, resourceful and quick-on-your feet thinking as Scouts were faced with making the most of their limited budget in the local supermarket. There, we’re proud (but not surprised) to report, shop floor staff commented on how ‘polite and respectful’ our young people were.

Back at Headquarters the cooking began in earnest. Patrols showed impressive teamwork, planning and culinary flair which included some dishes showcasing never-before-seen food combinations!

After much tasting, discussion, and deliberation our celebrity judge Rosario Bavetta  –  from Rosariao’s cafe and restaurant in Northumberland Place, Bath – made her decision; Teams from 28th Bathampton claimed first and third places while 15th Freshford came in with a strong performance for second.

Rosario said, “It was tough to work out the best food,” but praised the winning 28th Team for their “thoughtful approach, presentation and flavour combinations [which] set them apart and earned them the top spot.”

We say, Congratulations all round and Thank You to Rosario for being our expert judge!
