Always ready to learn something new 28th Bathampton Group took to the dance floor earlier this year when the local Morris Men came to visit.

The Morris Men explained the history of Morris Dancing to the Scouts and then showed them how to dance themselves.

It was a hugely entertaining and education evening for all.

“I have never seen them so mesmerized!” said Scout Leader Dan.

“We also enjoyed ourselves, and were impressed by how willing the scouts were to give it a go (on a minimum of tuition!).” said David, Bagman of Bathampton Morris Men.

Bathampton Scouts and Bathampton Morris Men have a shared history as both were started in the 1930s the then Head Teacher of Bathmpaton School Mrs Charlotte Oakey. Both groups where red on the kneckers and sashes because of this connection. The colour is taken from the clock face on the village church.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
