Larkhall Cubs Go the Distance!

Date: 12th Apr 2026 Author: Amy Howard

21st Larkhall Cubs took the scenic route last month, completing an impressive 12km walk from their HQ on Charlcombe Lane to Bath Scout’s District HQ in Grove Street.

The Cubs faced dramatic weather conditions along the way, including a burst of hail as they climbed Little Solsbury Hill. But once they reached the summit, true to the Scouting motto of ‘being prepared’, they were able to pause for a well-earned lunch under bivi bags before continuing their journey.

The route then led them through Batheaston village and across Bathampton Meadows, with the day finishing in glorious sunshine as they arrived in Bath city centre.

The Cubs kept spirits high throughout the walk with map-reading challenges, walkie-talkie activities, and an exciting treasure hunt along the route.

For some, it was the longest walk they had ever undertaken. After arriving and setting up camp at District HQ, the group celebrated their achievement with a well-deserved cinema night and pizza before turning in.

The adventure marked a brilliant end to an exciting term for Larkhall Cubs.
